FINNISH DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY FOR NORDIC SPORTS AND OTHER COLD WEATHER ACTIVITIES.

TT Future is a Finnish manufacturer that specializes in high quality technical wear for Nordic skiing and other cold weather activities such as pole walking and ski-orienteering.

TT Future’s home office is located in Joensuu, Finland, where the weather and terrain are ideally suited to Nordic sports.  The TT Future team works very closely with several national teams and national level athletes in order to effectively manufacture the most functional clothing for both top athletes and recreational users.   They themselves are active participants in Nordic skiing, orienteering and running.

Winter activities require very special clothing.  They need to be made of breathable, windproof, water and dirt repellent materials. Therefore we have chosen the absolute best fabrics available such as microfilament fabrics from Finland and Sweden and the original Lycra® and Dorlastan® made by DuPont and Bayer.

Technology built into every TT Future garment…

TT Future has become synonymous with performance. Therefore TT Future training and racing suits have also been chosen by many top ski teams in Canada; the NTDC Thunder Bay, NTDC Canmore, and Biathlon Canada Training Centre Canmore to mention a few.

The new 2004-2005 TT Future training, ski and racing suits are water-resistant or waterproof and 100% windproof. At the same time they have optimum breathability. The moisture of the body is transferred outside and potential hypothermic cooling is avoided. TT Future means optimal comfort and functionality with very little weight!

The functional innovative high-tech materials used in TT Future training/ski suits utilizes the best Windmaster membranes – the lightest in the world.  For example, the TT Future Loppet training suit and FinnSvala Windproof Stretch underwear combination, size M, weights only 860 g/1.85 lb and you can ski in minus 20°C!

The new TT Future training/ski suits effectively facilitates natural temperature regulation of the body. Intelligent insulation adjusts itself according to the level of activity. The materials used include membranes that respond to the activity levels that react to changes to temperature; similar to the way your skin does.  They distinguish between different activity levels.  At low activity levels they allow an insulating layer of air to warm up inside the clothing. As exertion increases, the membranes expand thus opening their “pores” and allowing the warm air and body moisture to escape. This means increased breathability resulting in temperature control. This allows the body to use its resources economically when exercising.

Materials

POLYESTER (PES)

Polyester is a resilient, machine washable and fast drying material. It is strong, durable and keeps its shape and size. It keeps its colours (does not fade) fresh and bright. It is neither affected by sweat nor sunlight and dries fast since it absorbs only 1% moisture.

It is used in today’s technical outerwear (High Tech Micro fabrics, Coolmax and Sympatex etc.)

COOLMAX

Coolmax, made by DuPont, is a four-channel Dacron polyester fibre. It has a large surface area, which makes it a very effective transporter of warmth and moisture away from the skin. This speeds up evaporation. Coolmax fabric does not cling to the skin and allows the skin to cool off well, which saves energy.

Because Coolmax absorbs very little moisture, it also rejects sweat and dirt. Coolmax is used in TT Future clothing and in Vauhti Lycra hats.

HIGH TECH MICRO

F.O.V. HIGH TECH MICRO

These are very light and tightly woven, water resistant polyester fabrics made in Sweden. It is windproof and breathable. It is one of the best micro fabrics available and is very easy to wash and maintain. It is very durable, has excellent colour durability and it maintains its shape.

MICHAEL’S HIGH-TECH MICRO

These are high quality polyester and polyamide micro fabrics made in Finland. They are light, strong and durable. They have good moisture resistance and breathability. They are windproof and dirt resistant and a very easy to clean and maintain.

LYCRA

Lycra is DuPont’s trademark. It is made of elastane fibre. Lycra knitting is very flexible (it flexes even six times its own size). It is light, durable and feels pleasant against the skin. DuPont Lycra keeps it colours, shape and size. It feels like “heavy silk” and adds support to working muscles during activity.

It is used by itself in the TT Future ski racing suits and Vauhti and FinnSvala hats. It has been mixed with wool in FinnWool socks and some Vauhti toques.

DORLASTAN

Is a high quality elastane material made by Bayer. It conforms to the shape of the wearer allowing for a perfect fit and excellent comfort. It is shape retaining, extremely durable and highly elastic.

It is used with DuPont’s Lycra in TT Future racing suits.

SYMPATEX

Sympatex is an ultra light membrane laminated to a fabric. It transports the moisture from the skin utilizing its special molecular structure. It is fully waterproof and breathable. TT Future is using a membrane that “lives” according to the body temperature. The laminate is tight and in it’s thinnest form when the garment is cold.  When body temperature increases (during activity), the membrane “relaxes” and its “pores” open, allowing the transport of moisture and body heat to the outside. TT Future uses both Sympatex fabric and knitting.

TERINDA

DuPont makes Terinda of very fine and soft Dacron fibres. Terinda fabric is especially soft and light and it does not pill or shrink. It keeps its appearance even when washed repeatedly. It has good wind-resistance and it is very comfortable against the skin.

SCOTCHLITE

Scotchlite is a reflective material made by 3M and can make the user visible by reflecting light from, for example, car headlights. It increase’s your safety in dusk and dark and when weather is bad. It is used in all TT Future clothing.
