Vauhti Speed Gel Blue

Vauhti Speed Gel Blue is a liquid universal glide wax for cross country and alpine skis and snowboards that is quick and easy to apply. Vauhti Speed Gel contains fluor polymers; therefore it works well in all conditions. Vauhti Speed Gel Blue can be applied both on new skis and on old, previously hot-waxed skis.  If you have a new pair of skis, we recommend that you first apply a couple of layers of Vauhti Base Preparation Paraffin with a waxing iron (you may want to ask your ski retailer to prep the skis).

Vauhti Speed Gel Green (alpine/cross country)

Vauhti Speed Gel Green is a harder universal glide wax, and is excellent for alpine skis and snowboards. It forms hard and very durable surface.

Vauhti Speed Gel Green is recommended for cross-country skis, when the temperature is -8°C or colder. It can be used also in milder conditions, when the snow is old and coarse. It works well on man-made snow and in ski tunnels.

How to apply Speed Gel glide waxes

Apply Speed Gel inside onto the dry ski base at room temperature. It is safe to wax with Vauhti Speed Gels inside. Special air ventilation or masks are not needed.

  1. Place the skis bases upwards, shake the bottle a few seconds and press the sponge gently against the ski base (pressing opens the valve inside the applicator and the wax flows into the sponge). Spread a thin even layer of the gel onto the glide sections of your skis.
  2. Let dry ca. 10-15 minutes.
  3. Polish the bases either with the non-lint Vauhti Polishing Cloth or with a clean natural cork. For additional glide, brush well with a nylon brush. The skis are now ready to go!

If you are a classic skier, you still have to apply the grip wax.

Note: Remember that the grip section (i.e. the middle section) of the classic skis must never be waxed with a glide wax.

Check the glide surfaces every now and then and add Speed Gel as needed. One application will last 15-40 km presuming that the skis have been prepared well with Vauhti Base Preparation Paraffin (and blue glide wax) by using a waxing iron.

Vauhti Pika-Pito Quick-Grip + and Pika-Pito Quick Grip –

Vauhti Pika-Pito waxes are universal liquid grip waxes. Pika-Pito +  works best when the snow temperature is  –1 °C or warmer. Pika-Pito –  works in cold conditions when the snow is -2°C or colder.

Pika-Pito liquid grip waxes work in all snow conditions. Durability is good. You can expect to ski ca. 15-50 km depending on the ski base and the abrasiveness of the snow.

How to apply Vauhti Pika-Pito liquid grip waxes:

For the best result apply Speed Gel inside onto the dry ski base at room temperature. It is safe to wax with Vauhti Speed Gels inside. Special air ventilation or masks are not needed.

  1. Remove all old grip wax or klister from the grip section of the ski base. First use the Vauhti acrylic scraper and then finish with Vauhti Wax Remover (do not touch the gliding surfaces!). You may apply the Pika-Pito grip also on top of the old, hard grip waxes but if you remove all the old grip wax first, the skis will glide better.
  2. Place the skis base up. Shake the bottle for a few seconds. Press the bottle’s sponge applicator lightly against the ski base and squeeze the bottle a little at the same time. This opens the valve inside the applicator and the wax flows into the sponge. Apply an even layer onto the grip section. (Grip section = ca. 70 cm from the heel of your ski boot to the tip of the ski).
  3. Let the wax dry for 5-10 minutes when waxing inside. When you wax outside, let the wax dry ca. 10 minutes. Make sure that the wax has dried completely before you start skiing. When it feels rubbery, slightly sticky but solid, the skis are ready for skiing. Note: You don’t need to smooth out Pika-Pito grip waxes with a cork.

Pika-Pito grip waxes work well also as a base binder for wet condition klisters.

In cold, new snow conditions, if there is too much grip or you want faster skis, apply a thin layer of regular or fluor hard wax on top.

If needed, you can increase the grip by thickening the grip wax layer or by lengthening the grip section towards the tip.

Applicator maintenance:

In order to moisten the bottle’s sponge applicator, press it lightly against the ski base and squeeze the bottle a little at the same time. When the sponge is impregnated with wax, it will glide easily on the ski base. Rubbing a dry applicator against the base may break the sponge.

The applicator sponge may become sticky with time, when the wax dries inside the sponge. Therefore, wait until the fresh grip wax from the bottle dissolves the dried wax in the sponge, and the applicator starts to glide easily on the base. You may “pump” the applicator sponge lightly against the ski base a few seconds, squeezing the bottle a little in the same time.

You can restore the sponge after a long time in storage with Vauhti Wax remover: Pour a little of the wax remover into the cap of the Quick-Grip bottle (ca. 5 mm, or ¼”). Press the applicator into the cap (the bottle upside down). Shake a little and the wax remover cleans the sponge. Dry the sponge with a kitchen towel.

Important: After each use, close the bottle cap tight! Store in a dark, cool place.
